Mechanism of action

It is a derivative of D- phenylalanine, is a non sulphonylurea insulin secretagogue. It belongs to the meglitinide class of oral hypoglycaemics agents. It causes insulin secretion via inhibition of the ATP – sensitive potassium channels in the pancreatic beta cells
