Mechanism of action
When administered by inhalation, the anti-muscarinic action of the ipratropium is restricted to the lungs .It has no anti inflammatory activity, ipratropium can reverse bronchospasm following histamine and allergens, exercise and cold induced bronchospasm is also reversed. It has no effect on visco elastic properties of mucus and does not affect mucociliary function.
