Chlorthalidone

Diuretics

Mechanism of action

The primary site of action of thiazide diuretics is the distal convoluted tubule. At this site, inhibition of NaCl transport is caused, leading to diuresis. Thiazide diuretics inhibit the Na+Cl- transport, perhaps by competing for the Cl- binding site.
