Mechanism of action
Cephaloridine acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis and is bactericidal. Also the autolytic enzymes in cell wall may be activated leading to bacterial death. Cephaloridine after administration are widely distributed throughout body fluids. Cephaloridine is primarily excreted by the kidneys and dosage should be altered in patients of renal disease. It is important to note that patients who have shown immediate type hypersensitivity reaction to Penicillin should receive cephaloridine with great caution. |
