Mechanism of action

Inhibition of prostaglandin and leucotriene synthesis. The actions of Betamethasone are:

  1. increased gluconeogenesis.
  2. increased lipolysis
  3. increased liver stores of glycogen
  4. CNS effects, euphoria
  5. increased haemoglobin synthesis
  6. Restrict capillary permeability and maintenance of cardiovascular function
  7. cause normal skeletal muscular function
  8. antiinflammatory action
  9. suppression of immune response
  10. stabilize lysosomal membranes
  11. antiallergic action.
