Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid

Antibiotics

Mechanism of action

Clavulanic acid protects amoxycillin from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes. Hence it extends the antibiotic spectrum of amoxycillin to include many bacteria normally resistant to amoxycillin. Amoxycillin exerts its action by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
