Pulmonary tuberculosis with cavitation
Bilateral infiltration with fibrosis is obvious. Close examination may suggest that there is a mottled lucency within the infiltrates with clear cut wall margin. Cavitation should always bring to mind, tuberculosis as the infection of first choice, but there are other infectious processes such as fungal organism and even non infectious causes such as Wegners’s granulomatosis that can produce cavitation.
