Echocardiography Normal
Three mode of examination is done routinely to evaluate the cardiac condition. M mode. 2D scan & Doppler. The routine examination consists of short & long axis views, together with 4 chamber view. The short & long axis views show a cross section of the left ventricle & valves (mitral & aortic) M mode allow the measurement of chamber dimensions & wall thickness. Doppler flow measurement are used to quantify pressure gradient across stenotic lalves & also measures cardiac output. It detects left to right shunt & regurgitation very fast. Echocardiography is very useful in diagnosing pericardial effusion as well as Myxoma & intracrdiac masses, including intracrdiac vegetation of SBE. In IHD it can accurately diagnose akinetic or hypokinetic segments.
