Mechanism of action

The cholinergic activity in CNS (striatum) is inhibited and the beneficial effect is due to anticholinergic action. Tremor is reduced but the effect on relieving rigidity is not so pronounced. Salivation is reduced because of peripheral antimuscarinic action.
