Mechanism of action

Propafenone is an antiarrhythmic agent. It has a direct stabilizing action on myocardial cell membranes. Its electrophysiological effect in Purkinje fibers, and to a lesser extent myocardial fibers, Propafenone reduces the fast inward sodium current.
