Mechanism of action
It belongs to avermectin class of antiparasitic agents..
Ivermectin kills by interfering with nervous system and muscle function, in particular by enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission. The drug binds to glutamate gated chloride ion channels resulting in neuro-muscular paralysis and death.
