Mechanism of action
It increases the activity of lipoprotein lipase which promotes the catabolism of VLDL and LDL. It may decrease hepatic synthesis and secretion of VLDL. The lowering of triglyceride plasma levels may be due to reduction in hepatic synthesis of VLDL and increase in VLDL clearance.
